About M.P. Osborne
I am an Isle of Wight photographer interested in exploring mundane everyday scenes, using memory and narrative to create a different way of seeing the familiar.
My first roll of film was taken in 1998 when I taught myself photography on my father’s Contax 139. Over the following 26 years I have photographed weddings, portraits, fashion, mountain biking, sailing, commercial and more traditional landscape photography. My current practice is situated between social documentary photography and landscape photography, combining memory, history, narrative and place.
As a writer I like to discuss and explore different ideas and themes around photography, art and visual culture. From general practice, through to post-photography, critical theory and more personal thoughts such as how fatherhood affected my own photography.
